Lessons from the Giraffe
Sometimes the best view isn’t about being above — it’s about seeing farther.
The giraffe has always fascinated me. Maybe it’s the calm way it moves, maybe it’s the patience in those long, deliberate steps. Whatever it is, there’s something about that tall, quiet creature that feels like a sermon without words.
When you really think about it, the giraffe teaches a few simple lessons worth remembering.
Lesson one: Keep your head up — literally and figuratively.
Life will throw low branches and heavy days your way, but the giraffe doesn’t duck and hide. It keeps its head high and moves forward. There’s a grace in that kind of patience.
Lesson two: You can see more when you stand tall.
That doesn’t mean being arrogant — it means carrying yourself with quiet confidence. Looking farther down the road. Seeing past the noise right in front of you. The giraffe doesn’t rush; it just sees what’s coming and steps accordingly.
Lesson three: Watch where you’re stepping.
For all that height, a giraffe still knows the ground matters. It doesn’t stomp or sprint — it moves steady. And maybe that’s the balance we all need: to see far but still stay grounded.
It’s funny — we spend a lot of time chasing speed, power, and control. But maybe life’s about perspective instead. The giraffe doesn’t need to shout to be seen; it just stands tall and does what it was made to do.
Maybe that’s the reminder I needed this week.
Keep your head up.
Move with grace.
See farther.
And stay grounded.
