Parents Don’t Get Parking Passes
Why we have to stay in the game for our kids
Walking past this sign in Harrisburg, it hit me: Parents don’t get parking passes. There’s no reserved space, no guaranteed seat at the table. Some days it feels like the system is designed to keep us on the outside looking in.

But here’s the truth—our kids need us more today than ever. That means we stay in the game, even when it’s frustrating, even when the process seems stacked against us.

Those “one mores” add up. Together, parents are the single largest voting block in the Commonwealth. That’s bigger than any lobbyist check or special interest money—but only if we act like it.
The system may try to make it hard on us. That sign may say “Parking Only” for someone else. But our kids don’t need us to park—they need us to move, to show up, to keep pressing forward until they get the education and opportunities they deserve.
So let’s remind Harrisburg: parents aren’t going anywhere. We don’t need a pass to belong here. We already do.
